Some News, Announcements, And A New Podcast??
Ok, EVERYBODY CIRCLE UP AND TAKE A KNEE.
It’s been a couple of weeks since we eulogized Over Under Achievers, but it's time to move out of our mourning, even though, yes, it remains a tragic day for podcasting because I don’t believe anyone else is covering sports in podcast form.
Case in point: Ryan Day MAYBE having a nipple ring would’ve been a full episode.
Possibly a two-parter. We would’ve also speculated, irresponsibly and with glee, on which other college football coaches might ALSO have secret piercings.
------------------
Kirby, no.
Marcus Freeman, no.
Lane, yes, obvi, probably his tongue.
Brian Kelly, at one point, yes, but since interchangeable and now decorative, because he’s like Immortan Joe from Mad Max Fury Road.
James Franklin, yes, you just KNOW Jimmy Franks is like a mobile Claire’s with all his piercings.
Josh Heupel, no, but he did get a full back tattoo of the original Cracker Barrel logo as a protest last week.
Dabo, yes, through his scrotum because that’s the only sack action Clemson might see this year. (Boom, ROASTED.)
Hugh Freeze, no, only because he has a humiliation kink something fierce, which may also be true for Auburn fans too now that I think about it.
------------------
ANYWHO, we’re not here to talk about the past or be wistful about grown men and their decorative body mods. We’re here to talk about the FUTURE.
📚 A New Book Podcast?
First up, if you’re the “appreciates books” or “has ever set foot inside a library” type, I’m co-launching a new books and literature podcast with my friends Jamie Golden and Erin Moon called Shelf Respect.
I wanted to call it Only Fans of Fiction, but was swiftly overruled, which just proves that democracy IS a scam.
We’re launching tomorrow, so if listening to us judge books by their covers and being generally chaotic about our unpopular book opinions sounds at all appealing to you, I urge you to check us out.
🙋 But What About This Space?
Let’s dim the lights and get serious-ish: What’s the value proposition of this space now that Over Under Achievers is off the board?
WELL, starting in October, Binge Thinking is pivoting to its new true north: a studio space for original audio.
I know. That sounds like something from an earnings call hosted by a guy in either a black turtleneck, a Patagonia vest or both. So let me clarify:
Original audio means I’ll be releasing fictional and non-fictional audio narratives. We’re talking series, episodes, weird experiments, and more. Some serialized, some standalone. I’ve had the itch to do this for a while, and it’s finally the right time and place to do it.
Beginning in October, I’ll be releasing Sunday Night Lights, which, if you’ve been here for a minute or are an OG reader, you’ll know this is a story I’ve been trying to write for a hot minute. Only took like ten years and a pandemic to finish, but (nervous laughter) who’s counting? More details and a trailer to come, etc etc.
Beyond Sunday Night Lights, I’ve got another multi-season fiction series in the can and a couple more non-fiction series in development, one of which is about the Devil. If that reads like a threat, I apologize. I’m trying to inspire and excite you.
🧠 What Else You’ll Get From This Here Newsletter
One bigboi post per month, including a roundup of everything I’ve read, watched, and listened to.
One monthly essay that may or may not involve deep dives, faith crises, vibe checks, recaps, or existential meltdowns.
One ADHD (Ask a Dude, Husband, or Dad) advice episode per month with a fun new twist: SpeakPipe.
Binge Thinking now has its own SpeakPipe which means YOU can send audio messages with your questions, and I’ll answer them on the pod. Or, if the sound of your own voice gives you hives, you can just email me like it’s 2004.
You can send advice requests, personal conundrums, Survivor takes, or we can continue ruminating on the prospective body piercings of football coaches. All queries are welcome.
So all in, that’s going to be 7 original pieces of content a month. Supporters of Binge Thinking will receive everything AND all of it will be ad-free.
🤝 Housekeeping
Like I mentioned at the top, I realize this is a pivot away from the Over Under Achiever-centric value proposition, so if this BOLD and EXCITING new direction is not of interest to you, there are no hard feelings if you want to unsubscribe. Truly.
If you're a Founders supporter (or anyone else) and feel entitled to a refund because of the shift, just email me and we’ll get you taken care of. No questions, no shade.
Any questions or suggestions, hit me up at the SpeakPipe link, or reply to this email. And thank you again for your grace and patience as we navigate this new iteration of the newsletter.

I have been so confused about what happened to OUA. The podcast stopped updating ages ago, I never received a newsletter or notification with any info, it feels like neither Jason W nor OUA has been spoken of on the Popcast in a while, and then I got this newsletter. I searched for a while and finally found a short podcast ep from only Knox a few weeks ago, and now I'm so sad.
I must have also missed where everyone talked it out, but add me to the list of those who will REALLY miss hearing you guys. I hope all is well with Jason. (Perhaps I missed a lot not being able to join the AUAs/ read the chats?)
Of course, will continue to support here! (And hope maybe one day OUA will resume :)) Excited for you and your new audio adventures.
Watching the first weekend of college football was so sad knowing I wouldn’t be hearing you and Jason break it all down. The downfall of Bama and no commentary from y’all on it?!!! The saddest. So excited for what’s to come though!
