Yes, And #6: M. Night Shyamalan and The Value of Empathy
as well as SIX weekly recommendations...
This week’s edition includes six curated recommendations PLUS a no-spoilers review of Knock At The Cabin and the value of empathy.
ESSAY EXCERPT!
“One of my big problems with this movie is the name. It took me seven tries to get it right and in all honesty, I’ll probably continue to get it wrong. Knock At The Cabin Door. The Cabin With A Door In The Woods. The Woods with a Cabin. The Door in the Woods On a Cabin. Guardians of the Cabin Door Galaxy. This is probably less about the movie and more about me, but I’m just saying, the title is difficult if you, like me, are a stupid person.”

🎧 Scott Galloway on Armchair Expert
I’ve fallen off on listening to Dax ever since he was bought by Spotify, but my friend Sarah Bragg recommended this episode in her newsletter and I absolutely loved the conversation about what to do with modern masculinity and how to raise boys in the modern age.

💈Long Barrel Curling Iron
Needed a new curling iron and I have LOVED this one. Bought it in the 1.25”. The long barrel makes it easy to use and adds the best loose curls and relaxed waves.

📺 The Traitors
This is my new favorite reality show second only to Survivor. Available on Peacock, The Traitors is a murder mystery game show that takes place at an ancient Scottish castle, is hosted by a devilishly overqualified Alan Cumming and features a prize of $250k for the winners. Contestants are split into different groups: the Faithful and three secret traitors. If all the traitors are voted out, the remaining Faithful take the prize money, but if any traitors are left, the traitor(s) win the prize money.
The genius of this show is that it mixes highly qualified normals among reality TV veterans like Arie The Bachelor, Brandi Glanville, and Cirie and Stephenie from Survivor. My son and I crushed this show in three days and the ending pays off in a huge way.
