Are Enneagram numbers our beige flag?
In this week’s Popcast episode, we talked about beige flags, mostly in the form of evaluating and assessing listener beige flags.
(for the uninitiated, a “beige flag” is a harmless but strange and specific quirk of someone’s personality. It’s slightly off-beat, so it can’t be a green flag, but it isn’t harmful or toxic, so it isn’t a red flag either. Thus, it’s beige-ness.
Our discussion ran the gamut of possibilities, all the way from having a sidecar for a three-legged dog to someone only eating Oreos by running them first under faucet water.
The episode discussion involved our own self-assessments of beige-ness, and I landed on the following:
my love affair with this pregnancy pillow
my handwriting
my volume of distress when vomiting1
But later, after we recorded it, after I edited it, and after the episode was released, I found myself wondering about the Enneagram and whether or not it’s ground zero of where our beige flags most prominently fly.
