Apologies for being MIA last week.
We’d been in NYC for Spring Break and returned Sunday night. All, at that point, beyond travel exhaustion, was well.
Monday, I got up and went to work and recorded our 500th episode and towards the end of recording, I noticed myself feeling, how should I put this, like ass.
I assumed it was the travel and the hotel sleeping, but then I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and night sweats and tested positive for the Kraken variant of COVID that next day.
____________
DR: Do you want the good news or the bad news?
ME: Oh no.
DR: The good news is that you have really impressive lungs.
ME: Awwww, I bet you say that to all the girls.
DR: No it’s true. I have patients who would pay top dollar for your lungs.
DRAMATIC PAUSE / BRIEF SILENCE
ME: Wait, sorry, what are we talking about right now?
DR: The bad news, however, is that you are about to have a very rough week.
ME: When you say “rough week” what does that mean exactly?
DR: A combination of night sweats and your body violently ejecting any food you try to eat. I hope your bathroom floor is comfortable. Call me if you aren’t better in five days.

Anyways, I had the best intentions of writing through it, but she was right; I spent a LOT of time on the bathroom floor.
✍🏻 Yes and…A Photo Mini-Essay: Our Trip to NYC
As I mentioned, we spent Spring Break in Gotham.1 Given the pandemic and our 934,314,234 moves in three years, our core five family unit hadn’t traveled as much together as we would have wanted so we were all really excited about everything that was planned.
What follows are some pictures and tips about the experience. I’d love to say we knew all these things going in and planned them accordingly, but in terms of parenting, we’re more “learn on the fly” and “fake it until we make it” kinds of parents, so these tips are all things we realized AFTER the trip.
BE TOGETHER.
